Rafael earned a Masters of Philosophy in Literary Translation from Trinity College in Dublin, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Universidade de Brasilia. He is proficient in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. Rafael’s experience in the language industry includes eight years as a professional translator, six years as a digital marketing project manager, and two years as a translation project manager leading multilingual teams. He has provided Portuguese-English interpretation for multiple international events.

In addition, Rafael published the book “Alegria do Carnaval” (Carnival Joy) in Portuguese and co-hosted the podcast “Perasemacento,” in which he and a friend interviewed Brazilian writers and discussed academic and literary themes. In 2023 he achieved the translation milestone of 1 million words translated as a professional.
