We join the world in celebrating International Mother Language Day (IMLD) this year on Sunday, February 21, 2021.
According to the United Nations, this year’s theme is “fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society,” and is designed to recognize that languages and multilingualism can advance inclusion, and the Sustainable Development Goals’ focus on leaving no one behind.
IMLD has been observed every year since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
This year’s theme showcases how cultural and linguistic diversity are important for sustainable societies.
