Please join CETRA Language Solutions for the second movie night at International House Philadelphia. The event will take place Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00pm with a free showing of Beyond Silence (Jenseits der Stille). Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in 1997 at the Academy Awards, Beyond Silence is a remarkable film about Lara, a clever girl raised in small town Germany as the sole interpreter for her deaf-mute parents. As she grows up, Lara develops a love for music which sadly cannot be shared with her family. She moves to Berlin to study at a music conservatory, resulting in strained relations with her parents while at the same time opening doors to new opportunities. With its compelling characters and situations, this multi-layered story touches on communication challenges among individuals and communities as a whole.
The film will begin at 7:00pm and will be followed by a reception, offering guests the opportunity to network with other audience members and learn about CETRA’s work with the sign language community.
