CETRA Movie Night: The Church on Dauphine Street

Join us Tuesday, October 1 for Movie Night at the Ibrahim Theater at International House Philadelphia.  The event will begin at 7:00pm with free showing of The Church on Dauphine Street. Directed by Ann Hedreen and Rustin Thompson, this documentary explores a miracle after tragedy struck in New Orleans. This is a story about Father Joseph Benson, a Northern Irish-man, and Arthine Vicks, an ex-Marine fluent in American Sign Language: two unlikely allies working to reunite one of New Orleans’ most unusual, most independent congregations. Their church is home to the city’s deaf Catholics and to many Spanish-speaking immigrants, making it tri-lingual. But more than anything this is a story about home, and the mysterious, powerful allure of New Orleans.
