Maintained by the Terminology Team of the Terminology and Reference Section, Documentation Division, New York, the UNTERM database was compiled over the years in response to diverse and wide-ranging demands of United Nations language staff for terminology and nomenclature. UNTERM is a multilingual terminology database which provides United Nations technical or specialized terms and common phrases in all six official UN languages – English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabic.It is being put on the Internet to facilitate the efforts of people around the world who participate in the work of the United Nations but do not have access to the Secretariat’s intranet.
