Last year was a time of perseverance, embracing change and looking forward for many. At CETRA, it was no different. Our global offices continued to service clients worldwide, our staff adapted to working remotely, and we enhanced our telephonic and video remote interpretation services to better meet the needs of clients.

We recognized International Translation Day 2020 by thanking all of the translators and interpreters worldwide for their hard work and dedication to the language industry this day, throughout the year and always.

COVID-19 is speeding up companies’ adoption of digital channels. Similar to other business-to-business service providers, Language Services Providers like CETRA must safeguard the data of both their clients and also the end users.
CETRA Receives 2020 Best Places to Work Award
CETRA was named as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2020 Best Places to Work. The honor was awarded to our Elkins Park office in the small business category.
CETRA Welcomes New Staff Members
We were pleased to welcome four new members to the CETRA professional staff this year. The new staff are supporting our interpretation, translation and recruitment departments.
CETRA is Recertified to the ISO Quality Standard
CETRA was recertified to the ISO 9001:2015 international quality management standard this year. While CETRA is audited annually for compliance with its ISO certification, a full recertification is required every three years.
CETRA Launches Remote Interpretation Services
CETRA announced this year its newly-added capacity to provide remote interpretation services, including Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI). American Sign Language and many foreign languages are available 24/7.
COVID-19 Multilingual Info and Ways to Help
We come across a wide variety of multilingual information on how to stay safe in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and what to do if you have symptoms. We wanted to share those resources, as well as list volunteer opportunities to help others.

We had a special guest post last year on our ongoing travel blog series that spotlights unique, funny or interesting things about language or the local culture, including translation mishaps.
Study: Emotions Get Lost in Translation
A study was published last year finding that emotions can get lost in translation. We polled our multilingual staff for their own examples that might support the published research.
