ATA’s 50th Annual Conference a Great Success

2300 translators and interpreters from more than 50 countries attended the 50th Annual Conference of the American Translators Association, which took place on October 28-31, 2009, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on Times Square in New York City. The conference also marked the Association’s 50th anniversary and attracted the attention of the media. Jiri Stejskal, the outgoing ATA President, was interviewed by Fox Business News during the conference: http://www.foxbusiness.com/search-results/m/27178882/demand-for-language-translators-up-15.htm#q=american+translators+association

Jiri’s tenure as ATA’s President ended on October 30, when he handed the gavel over to Nick Hartmann, who will be at the helm of ATA for the next two years. Jiri enjoyed eight years of service to the Association: four years as Treasurer, two years as President-Elect, and two years as President. He will now focus his energy on running CETRA Language Solutions and serving as Vice President of the International Federation of Translators (FIT).
