ESOMAR 2017: Emerging APAC Markets

The ESOMAR APAC 2017 conference was overflowing with innovative and experimental solutions to many of the challenges that the market research (MR) industry finds itself facing today as it expands into new markets and faces technological revolutions.

A key focus of the conference was the emerging markets that are increasingly becoming major MR purchasers while they find their feet on the global stage. Countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia are poised for major economic developments, and the demand for research has never been higher. CETRA has also seen great demand for these languages (Thai, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese and Chinese are among our top provided languages) and our APAC office can provide culturally-specific support for the expansion of international research into these exciting new markets.

While exploring strategies to remain strong in the future, the deep foundation of ESOMAR 2017 was on full display as they celebrated their 70th anniversary. The conference was a simultaneous celebration of ESOMAR’s past and its future, and it encouraged all attendees to search their own roots to see how far we’ve come, as well as to seek out ways to prepare for the challenges we may find ourselves facing in the years to come.

CETRA  is just as proud to celebrate our 20th anniversary this year, and, just like ESOMAR 2017, we find ourselves looking back at our foundations as well as forward to exciting new innovations in our company and the translation industry at large. Our verbatim data coding teams and technology localization teams are ready to assist in mobile studies that meet the demands of a tech-savvy generation that would rather take a survey on a phone than a desktop. Our MR trained linguists are also prepared to provide cultural insight and guidance for studies that take advantage of the gamification strategies that were highlighted during the conference.

ESOMAR has come a long way since its early days and has become a powerhouse of support, resources, advocacy, and training for the industry. We are proud to be a part of this organization, and we hope that we can continue to build upon our 20 years of experience to assist with the challenges that face our MR clients today.
