CETRA Team Raises $10,000 10-7-09
CETRA Language Solutions participated in the Bike MS: City to Shore Ride for the second time, with its team of eight joining a throng of 7,000 cyclists riding through South Jersey on October 3-4, who collectively raised $5 million dollars for the fight against multiple sclerosis. Each cyclist must collect at least $300 in pledges to participate in the tour, with many raising hundreds or thousands of dollars more. This year the CETRA Team again exceeded its fundraising goal and raised nearly $10,000.

The Small Business Administration's Philadelphia District Office has announced that Jiri Stejskal, President & CEO of CETRA, is the winner of its 2009 "Eastern Pennsylvania Business Person of the Year" award. In honor of this achievement, the District Director of the SBA's Philadelphia District Office, David Dickson, visited CETRA on April 29, 2009 to personally congratulate Jiri and the CETRA team. Partners with Red Cross 10-08-08
One of the biggest challenges facing many Limited English communities in the Philadelphia area is access to programs and services at all levels. A lack of communication for these communities can mean the difference between life and death in an emergency situation. In response, CETRA Language Solutions has joined the American Red Cross "Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters" (VOAD) program and organized Disaster Preparedness Training For Interpreters. Southeastern Pennsylvania's VOAD is a part of a national collaboration of diverse organizations and citizens trained to meet community needs in the wake of a large-scale disaster. VOAD coordinates planning efforts and, during a disaster, matches community needs with services provided by member VOAD agencies. This cooperative effort has proven to be the most effective way for a wide variety of volunteers and organizations to work together in a crisis.
CETRA Raised $5,275 to Fight Multiple Sclerosis 9-28-08
The CETRA team joined 7,000 bikers who rode 75 miles from Philadelphia to the Jersey Shore to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the leading provider of programs for people with MS and their families. CETRA is grateful to its clients, vendors, families and friends who contributed to this fundraising effort and helped CETRA to exceed its goal of $5,000.

During the XVIII World Congress of FIT (Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs or International Federation of Translators) held on August 2-7, 2008 in Shanghai, CETRA’s President, Dr. Jiri Stejskal, was elected as FIT Vice President for the 2008-2011 period, and was entrusted with organizing the XIX FIT World Congress which will take place in San Francisco in 2011. The pictures below show the Executive Vice President of the Translation Association of China, Mr. Guo Xiaoyong, handing the congress flag to Dr. Stejskal, and the newly elected FIT Council.

CETRA Grew 42% in 2007 1-1-08
Thanks to growing demand for CETRA's existing translation services and the introduction of interpretation services, CETRA’s revenues in 2007 grew by 42% compared to 2006. CETRA has had a total growth of 577% over the past five years, maintaining an average annual growth rate of 53%.
CETRA's President Takes Over as President of the American Translators Association 11-2-07
The American Translators Association (ATA), the nation’s largest professional organization for translators and interpreters, announced that Jiri Stejskal has taken over as president for a two-year term. Founded in 1959, the American Translators Association’s primary goals include fostering and supporting the professional development of translators and interpreters and promoting the translation and interpreting professions. CETRA Launches Interpretation Division 9-12-07
In response to growing demand from clients, CETRA has begun to offer consecutive, simultaneous and escort interpretation. By drawing from its vast resources of highly proficient linguists from around the world, CETRA can now provide on-site and remote interpretation in virtually any language. While the services will be of immediate benefit to its core client base, which consists of global marketing research and government agencies, CETRA has also experienced a sharp increase in the demand for interpreters within the legal, technical, HR, and health industries. Beth Podrovitz, CETRA’s Director of Operations, was awarded the Professional Researcher Certification (PRC) by the Marketing Research Association. Beth Wilkie joined CETRA in August to lead the Translation Division. On September 1, Angela Wende-Minch was promoted to the position of Marketing Manager, Allison Wright and Sarah Grey to the position of Project Manager, and Selase Adzima to the position of Assistant Project Manager.
New Faces at CETRA 6-1-07
CETRA welcomed four new employees this spring. Dan Ruppel, an American student at McGill University in Montreal who took his first summer job with CETRA last year, returned this summer to perfect his French, improve his Arabic, and work on a large government job he helped to launch in 2006. Anukware Selase Adzima, a native of Ghana, is a graduate of the Master’s Translation Program at the University of Wisconsin who brings to CETRA his knowledge of Spanish, French, Ewe, and Akan, and who will work on his project management skills as an intern. Angela Wende-Minch, a native of Germany, brings her experience in marketing and human resources in addition to German language skills. Tony Guerra, a native of Cuba, contributes Spanish language skills as well as his extensive experience in the translation and interpretation industry, and will spearhead CETRA’s brand new Interpretation Division.

The Translation Summit, held on March 12, 2007 in Salt Lake City, brought together three sectors of the translation world: government, academia, and private industry. CETRA's Director of Sales, Fee Sepahi, and CETRA's President, Jiri Stejskal, attended the Summit. CETRA celebrates 10 years! 3-12-07
CETRA became a Pennsylvania corporation on March 12, 1997, under the name of Central European Translations, Inc. In January 2001, CETRA became one of the first language services providers to be awarded a contract by the General Services Administration to serve U.S. government agencies under a Federal Supply Schedule. In 2002, the company changed its name to CETRA, Inc. after it expanded its services beyond the languages of Central and Eastern Europe to all world languages. Following the name change, CETRA has experienced rapid growth and has quickly become a preferred language services provider in the marketing research industry and in the government sector.

Thanks to rapid expansion in the government and marketing research arenas, CETRA’s revenues in 2006 grew by 82% compared to 2005. CETRA’s average growth rate for the past five years has been 68%, with a total growth of 576% over the five-year period.
New people, new space 9-30-06
Fueled by rapid growth in both private and government sectors, CETRA has expanded its office space and added new staff. To accommodate new hires (see Employee Profiles), CETRA leased two adjacent offices, nearly quadrupling its space.
CETRA awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement by the Social Security Administration 2-2-06
CETRA was selected to provide translation services to the Office of Central Operations of the Social Security Administration for SSA entitlement programs submissions. The contract, which covers more than 60 languages, was awarded under CETRA's GSA Federal Supply Schedule.
GSA Schedule extended another 5 years for CETRA 1-9-06
CETRA was awarded the first of three five-year extension options for its contract with the U.S. General Services Administration. CETRA was among the first few translation companies to get on the GSA Schedule in January 2001. The initial contract, set to expire in January 2006, was extended through January 2011. The GSA Schedule qualifies CETRA to provide translation services to all U.S. Federal Agencies. In the past year, federal government contracts accounted for about one half of the company's sales.
CETRA maintains growth rate of over 50% 1-1-06
CETRA's expansion in both government and commercial sectors fueled healthy growth of 51% in 2005. This rate is in keeping with the company's average annual growth of 52% over the past five years, corresponding to a total growth of 688% between 2001 and 2005.
Jiri Stejskal serves as President-Elect of the ATA 11-11-05
CETRA's president, Dr. Stejskal, was elected as President-Elect of the American Translators Association (ATA) at the Association's annual conference held in Seattle on November 9-13, 2005. He will serve as President-Elect from 2005 to 2007 and as the Association's President from 2007 to 2009. ATA, founded in 1959, is the largest professional association of translators and
interpreters in the U.S. with over 9,500 members in more than 60 countries. ATA's
primary goals include fostering and supporting the professional development of
translators and interpreters and promoting the translation and interpreting
professions.
CETRA awarded a contract by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 9-26-05
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of General Services, awarded a three-year contract to CETRA for translation services. The contract will cover the Commonwealth's requirements for translation services for persons with limited English proficiency (LEP persons). The purpose of this contract is to provide LEP persons with access to services and benefits provided by the Commonwealth, and applies to all Pennsylvania agencies.
Hurricane Katrina relief donation 9-12-05
CETRA pledged to match donations for Hurricane Katrina relief made by its translators up to a maximum corporate gift of $2,500. 36 translators from six countries donated the total amount of $4,190. CETRA contributed the pledged amount to the American Red Cross and thus raised the total contribution to $6,690.
CETRA signed a contract with FMSO 9-02-05
The Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO) selected CETRA to translate
materials that other organizations, primarily the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS), do not translate.
The primary objective of this contract is to translate Russian, Chinese, Arabic, French, Spanish and Portuguese language materials into English. The FMSO mission is to assess regional military and security issues to advise leaders on issues of policy and planning critical to the Army, Joint, and interagency communities. FMSO manages research databases of foreign and English-language materials in order to support its research and analysis mission. Once translated, the material will be used by FMSO analysts in the preparation of required studies, and later place in the open-source archives. The open-source digitized database into which the translations will be placed is called the World Basic Information Library (WBIL). The contract was awarded under CETRA's GSA Federal Supply Schedule.
CETRA works with the US Embassy in Baghdad 5-25-05
The US Department of Justice awarded Blanket Purchase Agreement to CETRA to translate documents for its Regime Crimes Liaison Office (RCLO). RCLO is an entity under the Chief of Mission for the United States Embassy in Iraq, which is in need of translation services for various medical and legal documents. The contract was awarded under CETRA's GSA Federal Supply Schedule.

CETRA Wins New Government Contract 9-15-04
The US Army has selected CETRA, together with several other vendors, to translate selected units of Command and General Staff Officer Course Coursework from English to Spanish language. The Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) plans to start using the translated material for Instructor Train-up beginning on 1 March 2006 and for instructor use in teaching the course in June 2006.
